Mike Verbitsky

Mike Verbitsky

Paramedic | Owner & Operator, Fire Mountain Medical

Mike Verbitsky is the Owner and Operator of Fire Mountain Medical and has dedicated more than two decades to serving his community as both a paramedic and firefighter. With 20 years of field experience, including 15 years as a professional and currently continuing his service as a volunteer, Mike brings a unique combination of frontline expertise, leadership, and compassion to every role he takes on.

His career includes five years as a Fire Line Paramedic, providing advanced medical support in challenging wildland fire environments. In addition, Mike is a trained Critical Care Paramedic and held the position of Field Training Officer. His advanced clinical skills are complemented by a Bachelor of Arts in Education, which allows him to mentor and prepare future responders with clarity, confidence, and effectiveness. He believes that strong training and education are just as critical as experience when it comes to saving lives and supporting teams in high-stakes situations.

Outside of his work in emergency services, Mike serves on Ski Patrol during the winter months, extending his commitment to safety, preparedness, and community well-being. Whether in the backcountry, on the slopes, or in the field, Mike is driven by a dedication to helping others and a passion for building strong, resilient communities.


Mark Hoffman

Mark Hoffman

PhD, ATC, Paramedic | Owner & Operator, Fire Mountain Medical

Mark Hoffman combines his academic expertise with frontline emergency medical service. As owner and operator of Fire Mountain Medical, he draws on a career that spans emergency medicine, athletic training, higher education, and fire service.

A professor at Oregon State University, Mark teaches and has conducted research in kinesiology, applying science to real-world health and safety challenges. He earned his PhD in Kinesiology from Indiana University and has spent his career connecting evidence-based knowledge with practical application in the athletic training field.

His EMS background is extensive, with years of experience and service as both an EMT/paramedic and athletic trainer. For more than five years, he has supported wildland fire crews as a medical line resource, providing critical care in high-risk, remote environments. Mark also serves part-time as a firefighter and paramedic, and as a lieutenant with his local volunteer fire department, reflecting his lifelong commitment to service.

Through Fire Mountain Medical, he delivers field-ready medical expertise, training, and support, with a focus on safety, resilience, and performance. Mark’s work bridges research, practice, and community service, ensuring first responders and organizations have the knowledge and resources they need to operate safely and effectively.
